2012 FallsQuest
The Bicentennial FallsQuest had the largest number of participants in its fifth occurrence. First, 15 teams or individuals charged out for four hours under a hot sun.
An hour later, eight cyclists rode off in different directions looking for the same 68 controls as those on foot.
Three hours later, everyone was back on time. Participants seemed to enjoy sitting in the air conditioning of the beautiful Natatorium while recounting the fine details of their adventure.
Stories included a sunbather at the “carved cat” location and a verbal altercation between neighbors at one of the “white picket fence” control.
The usual amount of complaining was heard about the “traffic light by the garage” control, just because the little red circle was a trifling 90 meters or one short block from where it was supposed to be on the map. Get used to it! The Course Designer is only going to get older!!!
One participant even thought that Cuyahoga Falls had more than its share of boulders. Most seemed to have difficulty counting the number of waterfalls on the town’s signature fountain. Even though the Course Designer tried to shorten this task, some just had to count all 24.
Many folks elected to wander around the center of Cuyahoga Falls on an enlarged map that featured many questions of historical interest. Many found all twenty locations and walked four miles doing it.
Course Designer and mapper, Bob Boltz thanks everyone for overlooking the problems and confusing clues. A big thank you goes out to Fran Kern, our own Wonder Woman, who did all the heavy lifting with registration and making the money come out right for the report.
