FallsQuest 2014 Results
Eighty-four braved sunny skies and 83 degrees as they hiked, ran, crawled or biked around the streets and parks of Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake. The volunteers enjoyed the wonderfully cool air-conditioning of the Natatorium as they awaited the 3 PM race to the finish line.
Participants came from as far as Nebraska, New Jersey and Rochester, NY and spanned a great range of ages. The free Family version drew 49 hikers, some of which came back full of popcorn.
The competitive runners and bikers vied for points that had a maximum total of 2190. No one has ever achieved a clean sweep on this grand collection of locations ordained by the diabolical crafty course designer, Bob Boltz. Bob biked 193 miles in nine days to set the course.
Biker Phil Wadsworth came close to a clean sweep with a score of 2070 as he peddled almost 31 miles. A copy of Phil’s route can be seen HERE. Aging runner, John Hoffman, scored 1640 and bested 6 of 8 bikers.
A big thanks to Howard Montgomery for bringing the supplies, to Ivan for acting as greeter, to Phil Nelson for helping organize the results quickly and especially to the wonderful Fran Kern for doing ALL the paperwork with registration. All this help allowed the course designer to eat a sandwich talk with all the great people that came out to enjoy the day.
