NOON MASS-START
3:00 PM FINISH at the Natatorium
All participants must check in at the finish so that we don't have to come looking for you! Awards!
Search for 60 locations marked on a map of Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake.
Fee: $10 per person. Because of the danger of traffic, the bicycle version is a solo event.
Endurance and Strategy
Locations vary in their point value. To score well, you have to try to get as many points as possible in three hours.
You have some time before the start to plan a route to accomplish this goal. Restrooms are marked on the map. GPS logging of your route is encouraged for later review. However, no printed or electronic sources of information are allowed. This includes live GPS mapping on smart phones or tablets. Checkpoints 1 - 19 are worth 10 points. Checkpoints 20 - 29 are worth 20 points, etc. You will have difficulty holding your map while riding your bike. In the past, clever competitors have fashioned flat holders that accommodate the map (11 X 17). The best versions are able to rotate so your map stays oriented with the street you are traveling on. Make a slot underneath the map for your answer sheet (8 1/2 X 11). Consider using a highlighter to plot you path as you go or to plan your route before you start. Some have used a pin to indicate the next checkpoint they are traveling to. |

What should I bring?
At Check-In you will receive your map and sign a release waiver. NO CYCLISTS UNDER SIXTEEN. Bring a pencil and a water bottle. All should carry some form of identification. A highlighter for felt pen is great for charting your wanderings on the map. You should have some safe way of carrying a map on your bike. Although a compass is not necessary if you have some knowledge of The Falls, it would be helpful to orient your map to north. We will show you how!
